What Is Online Therapy And Does It Work?

Online therapy involves having a video, phone, or text messaging session with a therapist (also known as a psychologist) instead of a traditional face to face one. Many people are now choosing to connect with a therapist in this way from the comfort and privacy of their own home or a place of their choosing. Research suggests that online therapy is just as effective as face to face therapy.

No matter where in the world you live, if you have a computer or other device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and can speak English, then you can access my online therapy services.

A Little Bit About Me

I am an Indian born, Australian trained Clinical Psychologist. I have a warm, gentle, caring, non-judgemental, and compassionate approach. I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) but my online therapy services are accessible to anyone around the world.

 

I have 10+ years of experience in assisting clients with a range of presentations. I draw upon evidence-based psychological research and my own personal understandings around what facilitates healing to provide only the highest quality psychological services that help my clients to regain a personal and meaningful sense of wellness back into their life.

 

My specialised training allows me to treat clients with a range of mental health presentations across the lifespan. My Indian background complements my therapeutic practice by allowing me to connect with people from various cultural backgrounds.

What Makes Me Different

While I grew up in the western culture, I had a very traditional family upbringing. I've also lived in a few different areas of the world. My unique experiences allow me to both relate to, and support people from around the world, raised in different cultures and family dynamics.

 

Therapy is a very personal experience and I recognise that each person has had a different life journey and, therefore, have unique needs. I care about your voice and gaining a deep understanding of your perspective of your life experiences so far, so that I can provide therapy that suits your unique needs. I am passionate about helping you to get back on a path on which you feel empowered over your mental health and life in general, and are able to recover a sense of wellness. I genuinely believe that this is the only way for the benefits you experience through therapy to last beyond the therapy 'room' and for the long run. 

I appreciate it's not easy to open up to someone you don't know about your personal and private matters. I endeavour to make therapy a safe space for you, and your experience of therapy as comfortable for you as possible.

How Does Online Therapy Wor
How Does Online Therapy Work

It's very easy, you just have to follow the steps below:

  1. Send me your availability using the contact form below.

  2. I will usually respond to you within 24 hours to finalise your first session with me. If you have any questions, we can organise a free 15 minute phone chat first, before you book anything in.

  3. 48 hours before your session, I will send you an email reminder of your upcoming session with me. In the reminder, I'll provide you with a link to click on at the time of your appointment (for video and audio sessions only). At the time you receive your reminder, if you wish to reschedule or cancel your session, you may do so at no cost.

  4. At the time of your session, all you have to do is click on the link provided in your reminder, and then click on 'Ask to Join'. Please then wait for me to let you in and begin our session.

  5. If you have requested a text messaging session, I will send you a message on a messaging platform at the time of your session.
